Hercules

Hercules is an action packed
thriller that kicks ass. This movie gets your adrenalin pumping. It was
fantastically directed by Brett Ratner, also, known for the show Prison Break
(2005), and the movies Rush Hour (1998), X-men: The Last Stand (2006), Rush
Hour 3 (2007), 21 (2008), and Horrible Bosses (2011) to name a few. Some of the
actors include Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Aksel Hennie, Ingrid Bolso Berdal,
Reece Ritchie, John Hurt, and of course Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
This movie took a different take on the iconic Hercules movie. It began by following Hercules through his twelve labors; Killing the lion, the boar, and the hydra, oh my! Then the movie follows a band of mercenaries who are their own personalities. Ian McShane plays the seer Amphiaraus who always sees his own death coming, but never actually
does. Rufus Sewell plays Autolycus who is Hercules’s best friend and he has his funny moments but he is an amazing knife thrower. Ingrid Berdal plays Atalanta who is an amazing looking amazon archer who will follow Hercules until death. Reece Ritchie plays Lolaus who is an amazing story teller, who makes Hercules seem into a god through his stories. Aksel Hennie plays an unusual character
named Tydeus. He acts more like an animal than a human because of what he saw as a boy. “He was born in war;" sounds a lot like Conan.
And, last but certainly not least
is Dwayne Johnson as Hercules. He looks and plays the part extremely well and
has some amazing action scenes. Not to mention with his shirt off the entire
movie, everyone can’t stop looking at him. This group of highly skilled
warriors was important to Hercules because it not only developed his character
further but they were his best friends and family.
The overall theme for this movie
was the hero’s journey. He had to find himself to become all he could be to
rescue a city from an evil tyrant. I will give this movie 8 out of 10 because
the comedy will leave you laughing and the action will leave you wanting more.
I definitely recommend this movie.
